As a live performer, Timmer is the bassist for Portland based blues legend Lloyd Jones. Timmer is also the West Coast U.S. bassist for Austrailian blues sensation Geoff Achison. Additionally Timmer works as a freelance bassist throughout the Pacific Northwest. Some other notable artists that Timmer has performed with include Delbert McClinton, Tab Benoit, Ry Cooder, Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, Mark Lindsey (Paul Revere and the Raiders), Jeff Healey, Jimmy Thackery, Collin James, Robbie Laws,Jim Mesi, Paul DeLay, Terry Evans, and D.K. Stewart. Timmer also perform with a number of local area worship teams, works as a session bassist in local area studios, and fills in for a number of local bands. As a composer, Timmer writes and records songs for Songs of Love. Songs of Love is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing personalized songs for children and teens currently facing tough medical, physical or emotional challenges, free of charge. Timmer is a staff song writer for Columbia River Records, a member of the "Hot Rain" publishing house, and additionally composes songs for television, movies, and video games. Timmer teaches bass, guitar, mandolin, and music theory at his home studio located in Vancouver, Washington. His lessons cover all aspects of relative music theory, instrument specific techniques, and genre related specifics for all styles of music. His decades as a live performer provide him with a unique insight that allow him to bridge the gap of learning with students of any experience level. When he is not working, he spends his time with his son Timothy, his girlfriend Paula, her children Blaine, Jordan, and Randi, and his parents Tim and Linda. In the summer he enjoys riding his Honda Spirit motorcycle with Paula, and fishing and camping with his family. He loves poker, especially texas holdem.
